Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Extracta's ingredients, ordering, certifications, and partnerships.

About Our Ingredients

What ingredients does Extracta produce?

Extracta produces a range of premium dietary fibres and bioactives derived from Australian agricultural by-products, including sugarcane fibre, citrus fibre, apple fibre, red grape fibre, white grape fibre, and our Dual Grape Bioactive Blend™. We also offer a dedicated Animal Health Range for canine and equine applications.

Are your ingredients clean-label?

Yes. All Extracta ingredients are single-ingredient, minimally processed, and free from artificial additives. They are designed to appear on product labels as recognisable, consumer-friendly names — for example, "apple fibre" or "citrus fibre" — meeting modern clean-label standards.

What is the difference between soluble and insoluble fibre, and which do your products contain?

Soluble fibre dissolves in water and supports gut health, blood sugar moderation, and cholesterol management. Insoluble fibre adds bulk and supports digestive regularity. Most Extracta fibres contain both fractions in naturally occurring ratios, which is one of the advantages of working with whole-fibre systems rather than isolated extracts.

Are your ingredients suitable for plant-based and vegan formulations?

Yes. All Extracta fibres are 100% plant-derived and suitable for vegan and plant-based product formulations.

Do your ingredients contain allergens or GMOs?

Extracta ingredients are GMO-free. Allergen information is provided on a per-product basis via our Certificate of Analysis (COA) and product specification sheets. Please contact us for specific allergen declarations relevant to your formulation.

Formulation & Applications

What food and beverage categories are your ingredients suited to?

Our fibres are used across a wide range of categories including dairy and alt-dairy (yogurts, plant-based milks, desserts), bakery, beverages, meat alternatives, sauces and dressings, nutraceuticals and supplements, functional foods, and pet health products.

Can your fibres replace pectin or other hydrocolloids?

In many applications, yes. Our citrus and apple fibres provide water-binding, gelling, and texturising properties that can partially or fully replace pectin, gums, and modified starches — while delivering additional nutritional benefits and a cleaner ingredient declaration.

Do you provide technical support for formulation?

Yes. Our team offers application support including recommended usage rates, processing parameters, compatibility guidance, and formulation examples. We work as an ingredient partner throughout your R&D and scale-up process.

Can I request samples before committing to an order?

Absolutely. We encourage trialling our ingredients before placing a bulk order. Contact our team to request samples along with the relevant technical specification sheets and COAs.

Certifications & Quality

Is Extracta HACCP certified?

Yes. Extracta holds HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) certification — an internationally recognised food safety standard. This means every batch of ingredients we produce is subject to rigorous safety protocols and quality controls.

What documentation do you provide with your ingredients?

We provide a full documentation package including Certificates of Analysis (COAs), allergen statements, and origin certificates. Additional documentation for audits or regulatory submissions is available on request.

Are your ingredients traceable to source?

Yes. Full traceability to Australian farms is a core part of our supply chain, supporting your brand's provenance and sustainability claims.

♻️ Sustainability

What does "upcycled" mean in the context of your ingredients?

Our ingredients are derived from agricultural by-products — materials like fruit pomace and crop side-streams that would otherwise be discarded. By transforming these streams into high-value functional ingredients, we reduce food waste and support a more circular food system.

Are your ingredients produced sustainably in Australia?

Yes. Extracta operates with purpose-built production located close to raw material sources, minimising transport and waste. Our Australian provenance also means shorter supply chains and greater transparency compared to imported alternatives.

Ordering & Supply

What are your minimum order quantities (MOQs)?

MOQs are a low 10kg per ingredient designed to be scalable — from smaller trial quantities through to full bulk supply. Please contact our team to discuss your volume requirements and we'll find the right arrangement for your business.

Do you supply internationally?

Yes. While our production is based in Australia, we supply to brands, manufacturers, and distributors internationally. Contact us to discuss shipping, lead times, and export documentation for your region.

Do you offer private label or contract manufacturing?

Yes. We offer connections for private label solutions and contract manufacturing for brands looking for end-to-end production support. Visit our Wholesale & Private Label page to learn more, or contact our team directly.
