Manufacturing & Ingredient Processing

Welcome to Extracta
Most food and beverage businesses treat their offcuts, trim and surplus as a cost to manage rather than a product to sell. We see it differently.

Extracta partners with growers, processors and manufacturers to turn what's left over — pomace, peel, marc, bagasse — into functional fibre ingredients that stand up in a real formulation, not just a sustainability report.
Your co-stream isn't waste. It's an under-used ingredient.
Every fruit-processing line, cannery and mill produces a stream that never makes it to a shelf — pomace, peel, marc, imperfect. Extracta evaluates that stream and engineers it into a stable, functional fibre ingredient your formulation team can actually use: shelf-stable for years, freight-friendly without refrigeration, and backed by real clinical data rather than a marketing claim.
The problem with a co-stream
Left as-is, a co-stream is a liability: it's perishable, it's heavy to freight, and it earns nothing while it waits. Most operations either pay to dispose of it or sell it at a loss into low-value markets like stockfeed. Neither of those uses the fibre, the nutrition, or the functionality still locked inside it.
What changes when it's stabilised
Once we've dried and stabilised the material, the economics flip. A product that had a shelf life measured in days can now sit in ambient storage for up to two years. What cost money to move suddenly ships anywhere in the world, in standard freight, with none of the cold-chain overhead that made exporting it unthinkable before.
Why we go further than drying
Drying alone gets you a shelf-stable powder. We go a step further and engineer it into a functional fibre — screened for the specific role it needs to play, whether that's texture, gut health, or a clinically substantiated benefit. That's the difference between an ingredient manufacturers tolerate and one they formulate around.
What you get back
A revenue line where there used to be a cost centre, and a supply-ready ingredient your customers already have a reason to buy — backed by real functional and clinical data, not a marketing claim about "upcycling."
What We Offer
- Custom Drying & Milling Solutions Controlled, food-safe processing that preserves nutritional integrity, colour, and functionality across a range of fruit and agricultural surplus streams. We never freeze-dry, which means our powders are considerably easier to work with.
-
Batch Sizes & Capacity
- Minimum drying run: varies depending on fresh material per batch
- Minimum milling run: 1 tonne dry material
- Scalable to full production capacity for ongoing supply contracts
- Best suited to growers, processors, and brands with consistent or high-volume surplus streams
- Packaging & Further Processing Bulk return packaging, milling into fine whole-food powders, and blending capability for custom ingredient formats.
- Quality & Standards HACCP-accredited, food-safe, and traceable from intake through to finished ingredient—consistency and compliance are built into every batch.
How It Works
- Initial Consultation & Volume Assessment Tell us about your surplus stream, its moisture content, and your target volumes. We'll confirm whether your material meets our minimum thresholds and recommend the right processing pathway.
- Drying & Milling Your material is processed through our industrial low temperature drying and milling equipment at our Murwillumbah facility, engineered for large, consistent batch runs.
- Finished Form & Packaging Options include bulk returns, whole-food powders, or custom blends, packaged to your specification.
- Delivery / Handover Final quality checks and packing ahead of dispatch or collection. Turnaround depends on batch size and will be confirmed at consultation.

Who We Work With
- Growers and processors with consistent, high-volume surplus streams
- Food and beverage brands seeking whole-food fibre ingredients at scale
- Businesses with agricultural by-products seeking a circular disposal and value-recovery pathway
- Ingredient manufacturers looking for a reliable, accredited processing partner
Important to Know
Our equipment is built for volume. We're best suited to surplus streams that can consistently meet higher thresholds. High-moisture materials will need proportionally larger fresh volumes to reach our minimums after drying. If your volumes fall below this, we may not be the right fit—get in touch and we can point you toward a better-suited processor.
